theeeeengs!
Oh man. Someone on my roleplaying site is playing Rosemary from Metal Gear Solid, and it's like everything she (Rose) says makes me want to just punch her in the gut. I HATE YOU FOREVER, ROSE. RAIDEN DOESN'T LIKE YOU BECAUSE YOU MESSED WITH HIS HEAD REALLY BADLY. ALSO, WHILE HE IS TRYING TO AVOID BEING KILLED IS THE WRONG TIME TO TALK ABOUT YOUR RELATIONSHIP. GEEZE, LADY! D<
I've always hated Rose so the player is clearly doing a good job!
Uhh, I totally had more to write about.
Oh! Question, guys- say you work somewhere where you have a lot of free time. Your boss has told you that it is okay to read, do schoolwork, whatever. Sudoku and celebrity magazines are also approved. Is it permissible to bring a hand-held gaming system? It's logically no different from reading or from Sudoku... but you know. It wouldn't really feel right. WHEW, I HOPE THAT WAS SUBTLE ENOUGH.
I am fantastically bad at the first Megaman game, but I am also improving. XD I have managed a few fantastic deaths! Especially in Gutsman's level and in Iceman's.
Some day, I am going to write up a huge boring entry about why FFIX is the one that I think touched me more than any other. I played through the end the other night, and I really do love it. Like, almost every character. Even that irritating gnome Eiko is ...well, is okay.
Oh! Because I seem to be SUCKING at my job at Sobeys, I'm probably going to have to actually take my meds before I go in to work. Which sucks, because although they do help me focus / remember stuff it still kind of freaks me out that I even need them. I kinda wonder if I would have done better in high school and in my first year of university if I hadn't been irrationally resistant to the idea of my having AD(H)D. Lalala. Yeah, but I keep on forgetting what I'm wrapping, so I have to ask and I'm sure that the more experienced people are sick of that and I will take steps to correct it.
Ah, you remember how I said I had a clear image of what a personification of my brain looked like? I realized later that it was actually pretty much one of
zarla's characters- Dr. Dowasure. I'm a little bit unsettled that I chose him without realizing it, because the Doc is a total wuss, forgetful as anything (guilty) and more than a little bit messed up. AND WHILE I MAY BE FORGETFUL, I am neither of the other things. Well. Maybe I'm a little bit of a wuss. Aheh...
Oh! Going back to Sobeys, I'm pretty sure that Bizarrely-Nice-Guy thinks I dislike him. How do you explain, 'I JUST HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO RESPOND TO YOU' to someone? But he asked me if I had anything I wanted to say to him off the record with no repercussions and I just kind of went, '...no? :B' Nicely done, self.
I had more to write about, but it's long gone. :V

Can't offer advice on how to react to people talking to you a work. Everywhere I've worked, I just sort of smile politely and nod, since I am terrible at talking to strangers.

XD That's pretty much exactly what I do! And the more awkward I feel, the more polite and quiet I get. Which I guess makes me distant, and makes people think I don't like them!

Also,
Just say to him, "Dude. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO RESPOND TO YOU" Maybe don't shout.
Occam's Razor bitch.

...D: But that leads to the inevitable question of 'why?' And I don't really have an answer for that, anyway!
Because they're relevant, and sum up my opnion on a certain part of MM1 nicely.

"OH MY GOD IT JUST BENT AND DROPPED ME THROUGH THAT HOLE. THAT WAS SO UNEXPECTED! D:" -after the same thing happened like 50 times previously.

Besides that, in many people's minds, there is an invisable line drawn between books/Sudoku/magazines and TV/video games. So it may not be as socially acceptable as alternate options, particularly in the mind of older customers.
That's just my opinion of course. Man, I wish I could read at work. It's soooooo boring.
Oh, and my opinion of the Bizarrely Nice Guy? Just tell him, next time he asks something like that: you`re sorry if you`ve offended him in any way and you haven`t meant anything of the sort. You simply tend to be tired from your other job by the time you get to work at Sobey`s. Then ask him to let you know if you`re doing anything in particular that`s upsetting, as sometimes you are distracted/tired/whathaveyou and may not realize it but do not want to cause offense.
Love,
Jen

The social stigma, however, is a very good point and the reason I will probably not be allowed to do it.
That's another good idea. I'm pretty sure that I'm not doing anything particularly upsetting, though, aside from being extremely polite and quiet. If he asks again, I'll use that explanation. :>

So I've had similar experiences. Anyways, give it a try, just so that there's no misunderstanding.
It must be a genetic habit.
